Fresh Unicorn...

HALLOWEEN 2014

Yes it's no longer halloween and this post is rather late however I felt it deserved to be documented as this is possibly my best 'last minute' DIY halloween creation. I am usually quite organised as October approaches and have a long list of possibilities for dressing up, this year while juggling my masters degree and working, I found halloween had arrived and I didn't have a clue what I was going to be!
One thing I knew though was that it had to be glittery and full of blood. As I usually dress up a number of times at halloween, I am typically something sparkly one night and something scary another but this year I was just heading out once so I thought I would combine the two and this is what I came up with! Running late after work I rushed home having conjured up the idea in my head the night before as I fell asleep. The idea being that I would be a sparkly, magical
unicorn that had just grown its horn.
I quickly made a 'horn' when I got home from work with only 2 hours to get ready and create my costume, I rolled a plastic bag glueing it with a glue gun as I went and then wrapped glittery gold ribbon around it and stuck it to my forehead with a lot of lash glue and a bit of liquid latex!
I also did quick makeup on my little sister and her friend, a witch and a cat!

Parties and Peacocks...

A few weeks ago I went to a wedding party of my friend, after just returning from a holiday and with my graduation it had been a busy few days, I didn't have time to pick up a new outfit for the event so last minute I quickly chose something from my wardrobe, seizing the unplanned opportunity to 'outfit repeat' with a reasonable excuse!
I chose a navy chiffon, floaty dress from ASOS that I had wore to a wedding once before.
I knew when I bought it that it would be a 'go to' dress for any last minute occasion.
The shape and style are classic and timeless. It can also be mixed and matched with any style of shoes, bag and makeup. I decided to brighten up the outfit by wearing bright orange heels and orange toned red lipstick to match.
I used a peacock feather clutch bag that I made myself a few years ago the night before another wedding as I was again unorganised! I think the peacock feathers pulled the outfit together and added a formal touch.

Fashion Design Degree Show... 'IGNITE' Collection

'IGNITE' was my final fashion collection to complete my degree in fashion design at University of Ulster. Here are some images of my pieces from the show...

'IGNITE'

"IGNITE is a 9 piece capsule collection inspired by the extravagance and imagination of the circus and carnivals. Lights, colour and reflective textures create the magical atmosphere and experience.
Key influences came from the fast paced and exciting movements of the carnival rides and firework displays. The pieces aim to bring the magic of the night into the day, with casual, relaxed shapes contrasted with formal fabric, vibrant, unique digital prints and hand embellishment.
The collection is fun, bright and detailed, full and flowing skirts represent the movement and life within the carnival and fairgrounds. Swarovski crystals, metallic silks and satin are key fabric choices throughout the collection, creating an eye catching and alluring light display of its own."
