Lavender's Blue...

Yes it's nearly summer and yes I'm writing about a winter coat... As you may or may not be aware Northern Ireland doesn't get the best of weather. In particular this year has seen a very very slow progression into a milder climate, with sun lovers having to endure hail stones in late May.
It definitely is time to pack away all winter coats if you have not already done so and ideally it should not resurface until late October or in our case early September. However I feel that this coat deserves a mention before it is finally packed away with all my other winter woolies. It has seen me through a very cold winter and into a chilly spring. I was able to wear this coat even in early May without looking like a layered winter lover in denial (which is often what I am).
The secret is in the colour, a gorgeous shade of purple....
A pastel shade coat can take you from the winter to spring with ease...

This is me attempting to climb a rope ladder that had not been touched all winter...

...and this is the result. Have a lovely day!

Spring is Coming...

Yesterday brought the first signs of spring to Belfast. Although it was still bitter cold and the wind nearly blew me into the water, the sun was shining and the sky was blue! I went for stroll along the marina in Carrickfergus, it was a beautiful day!

A New York Minute...

Towards the end of 2014 I got to visit New York City for the second time. I previously visited in spring time of 2013 for my spring break and Easter holidays. This time I got to experience the city in the fall! In early November the streets were full of festive pumpkins and the leaves on the trees in Central Park had turned the most beautiful colours and shades of autumn. I love NYC!

Loving the guy in the reds face!

Fresh Unicorn...

HALLOWEEN 2014

Yes it's no longer halloween and this post is rather late however I felt it deserved to be documented as this is possibly my best 'last minute' DIY halloween creation. I am usually quite organised as October approaches and have a long list of possibilities for dressing up, this year while juggling my masters degree and working, I found halloween had arrived and I didn't have a clue what I was going to be!
One thing I knew though was that it had to be glittery and full of blood. As I usually dress up a number of times at halloween, I am typically something sparkly one night and something scary another but this year I was just heading out once so I thought I would combine the two and this is what I came up with! Running late after work I rushed home having conjured up the idea in my head the night before as I fell asleep. The idea being that I would be a sparkly, magical
unicorn that had just grown its horn.
I quickly made a 'horn' when I got home from work with only 2 hours to get ready and create my costume, I rolled a plastic bag glueing it with a glue gun as I went and then wrapped glittery gold ribbon around it and stuck it to my forehead with a lot of lash glue and a bit of liquid latex!
I also did quick makeup on my little sister and her friend, a witch and a cat!
